Matthew Stiebel – SATURDAY, AUGUST 29, 2026
Matthew Robert Stiebel will celebrate becoming a Bar Mitzvah on Saturday, August 29, at Congregation Beth Shalom.
Matthew is the son of Jason and Heather Stiebel and the younger brother of Joshua Stiebel. He is the grandson of David and Judy Stiebel, and Maribeth Brasure.
An incoming eighth-grade student at Springer Middle School, Matthew is especially passionate about Boy Scouts and spending time with his friends. His love of scouting began at a young age, and he is working toward his goal of becoming an Eagle Scout.
In addition to scouting, Matthew enjoys cooking, playing baseball with Naamans Little League, and participating in outdoor activities such as fishing at local ponds.
For his mitzvah project, Matthew is collecting books for the library at the Mary Campbell Center. Those who would like to support his project are invited to donate books by dropping them off at Beth Shalom.
The family looks forward to celebrating this special occasion with relatives and friends.
Sylvia Stiebel – SATURDAY, AUGUST 29, 2026
Sylvia Gray Stiebel will become a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Congregation Beth Shalom. She is an eighth-grade honor student and a member of the National Junior Honor Society at Springer Middle School in Wilmington, Delaware, where she enjoys playing clarinet in advanced band. Sylvia is a determined athlete whose passion for tumbling and competitive cheerleading constantly pushes her to new heights.
For her Mitzvah Project, Sylvia volunteered as a CheerABILITIES coach at the Mary Campbell Center, helping women with disabilities become first-time cheerleaders and perform in front of a live audience. She also recorded the Shabbat prayers on alternative communication devices for the Jewish residents there and plans to be an ozerit at CBS Hebrew School in the fall.
Sylvia is the daughter of Hilary and Michael Stiebel and the older sister of Owsley. Her grandparents are Lynn and Tom Resch of Delray Beach, FL, and Judy and David Stiebel of Kenner, LA.
